If you have not already heard, I left the company I co-founded three months ago.
Yes, I left BetKing.
It was not an easy decision. But it was necessary.
Lesson learned.
In a previous post, I shared some context around why I made that decision. But at the core of it all is something simple:
Your reputation, your personal brand, is what you trade on in both your personal and professional life.
And sometimes protecting that brand means risking everything for what you believe in.
Growth, Attention, and Responsibility
Over the last few years, my profile within the Nigerian gaming industry has grown significantly.
The audience did not build overnight. It has been years in the making. What started as attention from agents and players has expanded to include operators, suppliers, and global stakeholders.
With that attention comes responsibility.
I have realized there is a real opportunity to build something meaningful. To set a blueprint. To build the next major gaming company in Africa — one centered around:
Great products
Happy staff
Supported agents
Satisfied customers
That is the kind of legacy I want to leave.
What Most Companies Are Missing
As I study the industry more deeply, especially agents and players, one thing stands out.
There is enormous stress in this business.
Most of that stress comes from:
Poor product design
Lack of support
Leadership disconnected from the reality on the street
Many executives and investors do not truly understand what agents face daily. And because they do not understand it, they cannot fix it.
Throwing commissions and aggressive marketing at the problem is not the solution.
Companies need to spend serious time researching what is actually happening on the ground.
Listen first. Build second.
My Track Record
For context:
I built a strong social presence with over 230,000 followers engaging with my gaming content.
At Bet9ja, I had the opportunity to manage and grow virtual products into a multi-million-dollar revenue engine.
I co-founded a betting company and scaled it to over 2,000 outlets in four months.
I walked away when strategic direction began to conflict with my values.
That should give you insight into both my capabilities and my principles.
The Next Move
I am currently planning my next major move.
And I am looking for people who want to build from the ground up.
This is not about chasing a large salary on day one.
It is about being part of something that could become very big.
When I became the first employee at Bet9ja, I was not focused on salary. I wanted to be part of something meaningful. That decision changed my trajectory.
If you believe in long-term growth over short-term comfort, this may be for you.

Final Thought
Many people say, “Kunle, you can afford to think this way.”
But they forget that I once positioned myself strategically to learn, grow, and build leverage.
I would still work for someone exceptional at a lower wage if the learning, exposure, and upside justified it.
Education, access, and proximity to excellence are multipliers.
If you are interested in partnering or learning more about what is coming next, reach out directly via email.
The next wave is forming.
And I intend to build it properly.
